If you’re looking for a meaningful way to celebrate Easter with your littlest one, you don’t need anything fancy or complicated. In fact, the best crafts for infants are the simplest ones—full of sensory exploration, soft textures, and just a touch of creativity.

Today I’m sharing an easy, infant-friendly Easter craft that doubles as a keepsake you’ll treasure for years: a Bunny Footprint Canvas. It’s gentle, safe, and perfectly suited for tiny hands (and feet!).

Why This Craft Is Perfect for Infants

Infants experience the world through their senses, and this craft supports that beautifully. It allows them to feel different textures (paint, canvas, your hands), while also giving them a chance to participate in a creative moment—even if they don’t fully understand it yet.

Here’s why it works so well for this age group:

  • Sensory-rich: The feeling of paint on their feet can be new and exciting
  • Quick and simple: Perfect for short attention spans
  • Low pressure: There’s no “right way” for it to turn out
  • Memory-making: You get a lasting keepsake from a fleeting stage

It’s less about the final product and more about the shared experience—and that’s what makes it so special.

Supplies You’ll Need

Keep it simple and baby-safe:

  • Non-toxic, washable paint (pastel colors work beautifully for Easter)
  • A small canvas, thick paper, or cardstock
  • Baby wipes or a damp cloth
  • A soft paintbrush or sponge
  • A marker or pen (for adding details later)
  • Optional: ribbon or frame for display

Step-by-Step Directions

1. Prep Your Space

Lay down a towel or protective covering. Have wipes nearby…you’ll thank yourself later!

2. Apply the Paint

Gently brush or sponge a thin layer of paint onto the bottom of your baby’s foot. Make sure it’s not too thick to avoid dripping.

3. Make the Print

Carefully press your baby’s foot onto the canvas or paper. Give it a gentle, even press, then lift straight up.

(And don’t worry if it smudges a little, it just adds character!)

4. Clean Up

Use wipes or a damp cloth to clean your baby’s foot right away.

5. Turn It Into a Bunny

Once the paint dries, use a marker to transform the footprint:

  • The heel becomes the bunny’s face
  • The toes become the ears
  • Add eyes, a nose, whiskers, and maybe a fluffy tail nearby

6. Add Details

Write your child’s name and the date. You could even add “Happy Easter” for a festive touch.

Extra Tips & Creative Ideas

  • Timing matters: Try this when your baby is calm and content (after a nap or feeding works well).
  • Less is more: A quick print is all you need—don’t overwork it.
  • Try handprints too: If your baby prefers, a handprint can become a chick or flower.
  • Make it a tradition: Create one each year and watch how much they grow.
  • Use soft colors: Light pinks, blues, yellows, and greens give it that gentle Easter feel.
  • Frame it: This simple craft can easily become a piece of seasonal decor.

A Gentle Reminder

Crafting with infants isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection. The giggles, the tiny toes, the little bit of mess…that’s where the magic is.

So go into it with a relaxed mindset, and let the moment unfold naturally. You’re not just making a craft, you’re making a memory.
