Adaptive & Special Need Resources For You and Your Family

Finding yourself searching for extra support when it comes to homeschooling your child with unique abilities? I’ve been there! There are great resources out there, but if you’re new to homeschooling, you may struggle to find them.

The type of adaptive device or resource your child needs, will take some experimenting on your part. Personally, I’ve found some Autism resources to work great for my son, while others fell flat. Either way, it was worth a try to see which resource my child benefited from the most!

To keep things simple, I’ll get right to my pros and cons of trying out these adaptive resources.

Pro

• Unlock Your Child’s Learning Potential- The relief of finding a tool that works for your child, is immeasurable. Don’t get me wrong, it may take several attempts to find a “game changer.” That change may not be easily noticed at first. To truly know whether or not an adaptive resource will work for your child, it takes time and effort. Don’t give up after a couple of tries! Progress. no matter how small, is still progress!

Con

• Cost and Financial Burden- Frankly, the only con I find with trying out adaptive resources, is the cost. If you are fortunate, your county or state may offer scholarships or grants for children with unique abilities. These programs award your family with partial-full coverage of your resources.
